Bancroft Public Library operating as North Hastings Public Library has been in existence since 1901. Although challenged by accessibility, the library does offer two floors of resources and services, and hosts the largest material collection in the North Hastings region.
North Hastings Public Library offers unique services such as a hydration station (bring your personal water-bottle for a refill) and business services such as full colour copying and scan to e-mail. In the past, North Hastings Public Library had been Provincially Recognized for their environmentally-friendly book bag project. We still re-use donated shopping bags and encourage patrons to bring their own book bags to keep our lending materials safe from the elements.
Our large collection may be our most visible asset, but our greatest feature is our staff – Librarian Bev has been smiling at the service desk for 25 years and Assistant Librarian Shirley has served the community for 18 years. Kimberly McMunn, our Library CEO has served over 20 years working in the libraries of North Hastings and has received Provincial Acknowledgement in Innovation and Service Excellence. Keep a close eye as Natalie and Martin bring our makerspace to life with new resources and programs on the horizon
