Library Cards, Borrowing & Fees

Residents and ratepayers of Bancroft, Faraday and Limerick may apply for free-of-charge membership at North Hastings Public Library.  Card holders of Haliburton County Public Library also have free membership.  Non-residents may also join with an annual fee of $35 or a seasonal fee of $20. Upon request of staff, patron must supply verification of address/ownership or identity by showing a document with their name and current local address (i.e. driver’s license, tax bill, student). Parent or guardian must apply on behalf of children under the age of 12 and accept responsibility for children’s borrowing, fines, damaged or lost items, and behaviour.

Membership Includes:

  • Use of library materials in the library
  • Borrowing circulating materials and/or e-resources
  • Usage of basic reference and information services
  • Interlibrary Loan
  • Computer & internet use

Renewal of Membership
Library Memberships may be renewed on an annual basis from date of issue. Outstanding fines and charges must be paid in order to renew a membership card. Members must supply verification of current local address and identity, if requested by staff. A $2.00 fee may be charged for lost or damaged cards.

Member Responsibilities
Members are responsible for all materials borrowed on their card. Members must agree to abide by the policies and procedures of North Hastings Public Library.

Parents/Guardians Responsibilities
Parents and or Guardians of members under the age of 12 are responsible for their children’s borrowing and behaviour with respect to the policies and procedures of North Hastings Public Library.
